Mum’s 70th birthday marks opening of MyWeku Restaurant
There was nothing more befitting than symbolically opening MyWeku Restaurant on the 70th birthday of my mum on the 23rd December 2017.
This was a close family affair. The day started with a trip to the Legon University Farm, only a few miles from the restaurant to buy some live chickens and a rather large guinea fowl to roast on our brand new grill.
The jollof rice (you can’t have a decent party without it) and other yummies were catered by my mother in law. This was a typically relaxed affair. There was no rush or fussing around with “guests”. My aunt and two cousins had flown in from South Africa to mark this day a few days ago. The food and wine went down well and in the end mum cut the sword (and the cake!) to the restaurant to applause.
Affairs then quickly switched to preparations for the 29th December, our first soft opening event to which 160 people had been invited.
